Airline Transport Pilot

The Highest Level of Pilot Certification

The Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate is the highest level of certification a pilot can achieve. It represents advanced knowledge, experience, and professionalism—and is required for pilots who want to serve as captains for airlines and many commercial operations.

The ATP certificate is designed for pilots who have already built significant flight experience and are ready to take the next step in their aviation career.

This may include:

  • Commercial pilots preparing for airline or corporate careers
  • Certified Flight Instructors building time toward ATP minimums
  • Pilots transitioning into advanced multi-engine operation

What You’ll Learn

ATP training is not a one-size-fits-all program.

Because requirements and preparation vary based on your experience, our approach is highly personalized. We work with each pilot to assess their current qualifications and build a training plan that ensures they are fully prepared for both the knowledge and practical components of the ATP certification.

Training may include:

  • Advanced multi-engine operations
  • Scenario-based training focused on real-world airline environments
  • Checkride preparation and evaluation

FAA Minimum Requirements

To be eligible for an Airline Transport Pilot certificate, the FAA requires:

  • Minimum Age: 23 years old
  • Total Flight Time: 1,500 hours (may be reduced under certain programs)
  • Cross-Country Flight Time: 500 hours
  • Night Flight Time: 100 hours
  • Instrument Flight Time: 75 hours
  • Pilot-in-Command (PIC) Time: 250 hours

Additional requirements may apply depending on your training path and background.

Timeline & Cost

Because ATP certification depends heavily on prior experience, both timeline and cost vary.

  • Estimated Time: Based on individual readiness
  • Cost: Based on training needs and aircraft requirements
